Stand on the heel side rail of the skateboard. In other words your board will be standing on its side while you balance on the edge that is normally the side your heels are closest to. Place one foot at the board's edge. Place the other foot so that it hangs over the side of the board, just above the truck. Keep the board stable.
Jump up a little while at the same time press down on the board's edge. This gets the board to tip onto its side. Now you are in the basic heel side rail position. Get ready to amp that up into a Butterflip.
Shift your feet into what's called the Cooper position while you are still balancing on the heel side rail. The Cooper position is where you place each of your feet on one end of the board.
Balance your body weight over the wheels, keeping your feet at each end. If you are used to flipping the board with the foot in front this might be a little harder, but you can do it with practice.
Lower your right hand to be ready for the catch. Use your rear foot to flip the skateboard. Kick it in a diagonal direction away from you. Catch the board's nose with your hand when it has made about three fourths of its flip. Land the board with your rear foot hitting right on the board's bottom truck. Smooth as butter. |
